Comparison of serological tests for detection of infectious bursal disease virus in bursal samples

Comparison of serological tests for detection of infectious bursal disease virus in bursal samples

Indian Veterinary Journal 80(8): 723-726

Counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIEP) and dot ELISA were compared with agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) in terms of their specificity and sensitivity in detecting infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) antigen in the bursa fabricii of 6 groups of experimentally infected broiler chicks. 30 samples were tested at 2, 4, 7, 10 and 14 days postinfection. It was shown that the IBDV antigen was detected up to 7 days postinfection by AGID and up to 10-14 days postinfection by CIEP and dot ELISA.
