Comparison of two training systems in hazelnut

Acta Horticulturae 556: 321-326

ISSN/ISBN: 0567-7572

In Cravanzana (Cuneo, Italy), two training systems were compared using eight hazelnut (Corylus avellana) genotypes ('Tonda Gentile delle Langhe', 'Daria', and selections 101, 3L, 119, 123F, 104F and G1). The training systems were the 'free vase' system (or open centre vase), in which the trees grow on a single trunk, and the 'double hedge' system (or hedgerow) that consists of two trunks that are spaced 0.40 m apart and lean out at an angle of 30 degrees on opposite sides of the row.
