Competition policy and vertical integration by co-operatives in the agri-food industry of the European Union

Competition policy and vertical integration by co-operatives in the agri-food industry of the European Union

Acta Agraria Kaposvariensis 5(2): 55-71

The theoretical elements of the competition policy in the USA and EU are defined, including Articles 85 and 86 of the Roman treaty, which regulates competition at the community level. In the second part of the paper, after the theoretical basics, the vertical and horizontal agreements are discussed. Furthermore, the substance of the so-called promotional type of cooperation, and its significance from a vertical perspective are the topics of the next part of the paper.
