A study was conducted between August and December 1991 to determine the composition and quality of camel diets in Baringo District of Kenya. Forage selection was determined using direct observation. Chemical composition and digestibility of selected forages were determined using proximate procedures and in vitro techniques, respectively. The diet consisted exclusively of browse species and was dominated by trees and tall shrubs whose selection was based mainly on abundance.
