From the flowers of M. jalapa (collected in the Himalayas near Jammu, India), an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid (mirabalisoic acid) and a monocyclic homoditerpene (mirabalisol) were isolated and their structures were established as n-tetracos-5-one-8-ol-24-oic acid and 10-(12,16,16-trimethyl cyclohexanyl)-4, 8-dimethyl decan-8-ol-10-one, respectively, on the basis of spectral data analyses and chemical means.
