The gametogenesis of B. affinis was studied by light, transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The spermatogenesis is semi-cystic and spermatids are released into the lumen of seminiferous tubules, where spermiogenesis is completed. Spermatozoa have an ovoid head, a rudimentary middle piece with a small number of mitochondria and long flagellum (primitive spermatozoa). The Sertoli and Leydig cells show secretory activity during spermatogenesis.
