Three adults (one male and 2 females) of the anisakid nematode Contracaecum variegatum were found in the gizzard of a single female Pacific diver (Gavia pacifica) which died as the result of an oil spill on the coast of the Japan Sea in Niigata Prefecture, central Japan. The morphology of the parasites was studied by light and scanning electron microscopy.
