A study was conducted to investigate the constituents in the leaves of C. argentea, which is used for diet in Sierra Leone. Some terpenoids and saponins in the roots, and flavonoids in the leaves and stems have been implicated as active constituents in C. argentea. The functional molecules in the leaves of African C. argentea, and their effect on the skin depigmentation are described.
