This anthropological case study of cruise tourism development in the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Lucia illustrates how a contemporary social movement focused its economic objectives on cultural struggles over meaning and identity. Aspects of sustainable tourism development are discussed. A brief introduction to cruise tourism in the Caribbean focuses on the trade organization, the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association and interconnected relations of power and knowledge.
