A study was conducted on 47 flower species representing 18 families to investigate the possibility and range of seed preservation of ornamental plants by cryopreservation. The seeds of the two species which were not cryopreserved successfully burst when they were put into liquid nitrogen (LN2). Results indicate that cryopreservation can be widely used in seed preservation of ornamental plants. The seeds of flowers possessing natural water moisture can be directly stored in LN2.
