Cuscuta europaea Linn. (Dodder plant): an emerging threat to plant diversity of Valley of Flowers

Current Science 84(10): 1285-1286

ISSN/ISBN: 0011-3891

Based on a regular visit to the Valley of Flowers National Park (Uttar Pradesh, India), a potential threat to the floristic diversity of the area, C. europaea (Dodder plant), is reported. This total stem parasite grows on various flowering plants, some of which are of high medicinal value (including Dactylorhiza hatagirea, Gentianella moorcroftiana, Swertia paniculata, Selinum tenuifolium and Potentilla spp.).
