Eleven monosomics in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) obtained in the progenies of 3 disomic desynaptic plants were cytologically characterized. The transmission of the monosomes was shown in the 26 monosomic plants. In 23 plants, the frequency of monosomics ranged between 14.29 and 41.67%. Three monosomics usually occurred in much lower frequencies (from 3.03 to 5.00%). Various transmission rates indirectly pointed out different monosomes as specific chromosomes of cotton genome.
