A study was conducted during the southwest monsoon (commencing in June) and northeast monsoon (commencing in October) seasons in a home garden and an open area in Kerala, India, to determine the effect of leaf litters of Acacia mangium on soil nutrient content, decomposition pattern and soil improvement. Entire leaf litter decomposed completely within 10 months. Decomposition was faster during the northeast monsoon season, particularly during the early months.
