Dendrochronological investigations of Norway spruce along an elevational transect in the Bavarian Forest, Germany

Dendrochronological investigations of Norway spruce along an elevational transect in the Bavarian Forest, Germany

Dendrochronologia 19(1): 67-79

Dendrochronological dating of historical buildings in the Bavarian Forest is notoriously difficult. These difficulties are often attributed to differences in tree response to climate with elevation. To investigate this possibility, an elevational transect of 14 Norway spruce chronologies (370 m to 1420 m) was developed from the Bavarian Forest.
