Studies were made of the processing of 4 species of Indonesian rattans from freshly cut to the final polished product. Two of the species (seuti, Calamus ornatus and bubuay, Plectocomia elongata) were of large diameter (28-38 mm), and two (pelah, Daemonorops rubra and seel Daemonorops melanochaetes) of small diameter (<18 mm). For each rattan size category flow charts are given showing the points of measurement of the various processing stages.
