Development of a model self-sustaining land use system for drylands

Development of a model self-sustaining land use system for drylands

Indian Journal of Dryland Agricultural Research and Development 16(2): 110-114

An attempt was made to develop a self-sustaining land use system on a small farm holding under dryland conditions. A 1.66 ha microwatershed was selected at the Hayathnagar Research Farm of the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad. Depending on the land capability and farmer requirements, the watershed was divided and different areas were allocated to food, fodder, vegetable, fruit, organic nutrient and cash crops.
