Development of initial breeding material-regenerants of smooth-stalked meadow grass using the cell culture method

Zemdirbyste, Mokslo Darbai 78: 141-148

A study was conducted during 1995-2001 to develop initial breeding material, regenerants of smooth-stalked meadow grass (Poa pratensis) characterized by good agronomic performance, using cell culture technique and as selective environment, various CaCl2 and NaCl concentrations in the medium. To select the best callus-forming smooth-stalked meadow grass genotypes we tested Gausa, 752, 1081 and 1720. A very good callus formation was achieved from Gausa and genotype 752 (92-100%).
