New Zealand White female rabbits were used as ova donors (n=80) or recipients of zygotes (n=57). A DNA construct, containing ribozyme directed to bovine leukaemia virus rex/tax messenger RNA, was microinjected into 1184 zygotes; 1100 of these were transferred to the recipients. 98 rabbits were born and 39 potentially transgenic animals were screened for the presence of the ribozyme sequence.
