Dietary and lifestyle characteristics of meat-eaters, fish-eaters, vegetarians and vegans

This study was carried out to investigate the diet and lifestyle of different group of individuals participating in the EPIC Oxford cohort in the UK. Comparative data on body mass index (BMI), lifestyle factors and dietary patterns were analysed. Overall, there were 13 213 males and 44 239 females, divided into meat- fish-, vegetarian- and vegan-diet groups. The highest mean BMI was observed for meat-eaters and lowest for vegans, in both sexes.
