This review presents understanding of how changes in the macronutrient profile of the diet affect cardiovascular disease risk status, describes various low saturated fatty acid (SFA) and cholesterol diets that differ in macronutrient content and presents plasma lipid and lipoprotein responses that have been reported for these diets.
