Difference in the amount of N immobilization among 4 soils treated with 15N-labelled ammonium sulfate

Difference in the amount of N immobilization among 4 soils treated with 15N-labelled ammonium sulfate

Japanese Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition 73(5): 493-499

Difference in immobilization of ammonium-N among 4 soils was investigated quantitatively by an incubation experiment involving 15N-labelled ammonium sulfate applications. The amount of immobilized 15N in soil was determined by a mass spectrometer after the soil was subjected to 2 mol litre-1 KCl extraction. In addition, transformation rates of N in 4 soils were determined by a 15N-ammonium isotope dilution method.
