Dormancy breaking, viability and conservation of Mauritia flexuosa seeds

Dormancy breaking, viability and conservation of Mauritia flexuosa seeds

Pesquisa Agropecuaria Brasileira 36(12): 1567-1572

ISSN/ISBN: 0100-204X

The viability of M. flexuosa embryos was evaluated by the tetrazolium test or by in vitro culture. The effects of high temperature treatment on dormancy breaking and of storage at different temperatures on seed conservation were also evaluated. The viability of freshly harvested embryos presented a high correlation with the rate of embryo germination in vitro. The rate of viability was higher than 90% when evaluated by the tetrazolium method or by in vitro embryo culture.
