Since 1998 ring testing of Puccinia with 30 spring barley varieties and breeding lines has been conducted in Sweden, Denmark, UK, Germany and Austria. The ring testing method annual results, if gained from more than five different locations with secure infection pressure, are suitable to classify the resistance level of breeding lines. Results with material from the Barley Core Collection show a relatively low resistance level in the collection.
