The development of domestic and foreign economic compensation researches of non-commercial forests was studied and the following aspects are illustrated: (1) the principles of establishing a non-commercial forest compensation system; (2) the main body and object of economic compensation of non-commercial forests; (3) the criterion of compensation; and (4) the essence of non-commercial forest compensation.
