Economic crises and natural disasters: coping strategies and policy implications

This paper reviews 12 worldwide studies presented at a conference examining two broad themes: the interplay between household coping strategies and the impact of crises and natural disasters on various dimensions of wellbeing (e.g., consumption and child nutrition); and some of the 'ex-ante' and 'ex-post' strategies that public agencies can adopt so they can be more effective in protecting households and their members from the potentially adverse impacts of aggregate shocks.
