Effect of Cu2+ and Hg2+ on gene transfer by transformation and transduction in Bacillus subtilis

Effect of Cu2+ and Hg2+ on gene transfer by transformation and transduction in Bacillus subtilis

Ecological significance of the interactions among clay minerals, organic matter and soil biota 3rd Symposium on Soil Mineral Organic Matter Microorganism Interactions and Ecosystem Health, Naples Capri, Italy, 22-26 May 2000: 257-265

The effects of Cu2+ and Hg2+ on gene transfer via transduction by phage PBS1 (a pseudotemperate phage of Bacillus subtilis capable of generalized transduction), free or adsorbed on the clay minerals montmorillonite (M) and kaolinite, and via transformation by chromosomal DNA, free or adsorbed on the clays, were studied in the soil bacterium B. subtilis.
