Banana (Musa acuminata William's) shoots were grown in vitro on half-strength Murashige and Skoog (MS) rooting medium supplemented with NAA+IBA (0, 0.5 or 1.0 mg/litre each). The cultures were incubated at 27+or-1 degrees C under a 16/8 h (light/dark) photoperiod cycle and 2000 lux light intensity. Shoot growth, rooting and viability were measured after 6 weeks.
