Effect of NP fertilization and biofertilizers on yield, quality and nutrient uptake by cowpea

A field experiment was conducted in Gujarat, India during the summer season of 1995 to investigate the effects of N (0, 10 and 20 kg/ha), P (0, 20 and 40 kg P2O5/ha) and biological fertilizers (Rhizobium and Pseudomonas striata inoculum) on cowpea Pusa Phalguni. The N and P uptake by grain and straw, total N and P uptake, number of nodules per plant, test weight, crude protein content and yield improved with the application of all fertilizers compared with the untreated control.
