Dengue 2 virus isolated from a patient from Jammu, India with dengue haemorrhagic fever was utilized. Different concentrations of heparin sulfate (625 IU/ml, 250 IU/ml and 50 IU/ml) and EDTA (69 IU/ml, 35 IU/ml and 17 IU/ml) were added to feeding suspensions prepared from a mixture of fowl blood and dengue virus. A. aegypti mosquitoes were fed on defibrinated fowl blood containing the standard virus dose. On day 10 post-infection, the mosquito positivity was determined.
