Effect of chip-bud method of planting and nitrogen on yield and quality of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum)

A field experiment with early-maturing sugarcane CoC 92061 was conducted during the main season of 1993-94 and 1995-96, in Melalathur, Tamil Nadu, India. The experiment consisted of 28 treatment combinations. Seven planting methods consisting of planting of chip bud seedlings grown in raised bed and polybags at 2 different ages, 20 and 40 days, direct planting chip buds with and without NAA treatment and planting 2 budded setts as conventional method were superimposed with N application.
