The effect of cotton trichome density on the development and predatory capacity of C. externa in a greenhouse was evaluated. The cotton cultivars used were Antares, CNPA 7H and Deltapine Acala 90, with smooth leaf, hirsute and pilose characteristic, respectively. At 30.0 cm height, each plant was infested with Alabamma argillacea eggs in paper strips fixed through metal pins. One newly emerged larva of C. externa was released per vase which was protected by metal cage covered by voil textile.
