Lychee seeds 'Brewster' were obtained from completely ripe fruit, and their moisture content determined. A group was left unwrapped at room temperature in the laboratory for 3, 5 and 7 days, stored in a cold chamber at 10 degrees C in thin polyethylene bags, or forced to lose 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60% moisture. All the seed were sown between 2 layers of moist paper towel and inspected periodically to evaluate germination percentage by radicle emergence.
