Effect of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on yield, yield components and oil content of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) cv. Varuna

A field experiment was conducted in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, during rabi 1998-99 and 1999-2000 to investigate the effect of different levels of N (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg/ha) and P (1, 15, 30, 45 and 60 kg/ha) on yield, yield components and oil content of Indian mustard Varuna. Application of N and P increased the length of siliqua, number of siliquae per plant, seeds per siliqua, seed yield and 1000-seed weight.
