The effects of N fertilizer application (0, 65 and 130 kg/ha) on onion Pusa Red were investigated during 1992-93 and 1993-94 in Uttar Pradesh, India. In both years, the application of 130 kg N/ha resulted in the highest percentage of seedling survival, plant height, number of green leaves and pseudostem diameter, as well as the lowest number of days to maturity.
