Effect of different microclimatic conditions on fruit browning and cracking of litchi

Litchi Rose Scented trees were subjected to light irrigation or sprayed with plain water or a combination of both in a field experiment conducted in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India during 2000. Application of light irrigation followed by spraying of plain water during fruit growth and development significantly reduced the pericarp browning and cracking of litchi fruits to 9.27 and 3.47%, respectively. The yield of litchi increased from 52 to 61.2 kg/tree in the treated trees.
