Effect of different modes of honeybee pollination on oil content in seeds of sunflower (Helianthus annus L.)

Journal of Entomological Research 26(3): 219-221

Studies conducted in Bihar, India, during 1999-2000 on the effect of different modes of honey bee pollination (caged without insect pollinators, hand pollination, caged with 5-frame colony of Apis cerana indica, caged with 5-frame colony of A. mellifera, open-to-all-insect pollination and hand+insect pollination) on oil content in seeds of sunflower indicated that oil content varied between 22.15 and 36.30 per cent.
