Effect of different mulches on soil moisture conservation, weed reduction, growth and yield of drip irrigated Nagpur mandarin (Citrus reticulata)

An experiment was conducted during 1999-2002 at Nagpur, Maharashtra, India to study the effect of mulching with polyethylene mulches (black and white) and organic mulches (soyabean straw, paddy straw and local grasses) on soil moisture conservation, weed population, and on the growth, yield and fruit quality of Nagpur mandarin (C. reticulata). The soil moisture conservation was higher in black polyethylene (4.33%), followed by grass mulching (3.0%).
