Effect of different nitrogen and sulfur levels on rapeseed yield in paddy soil

Eight combinations of N (50, 100, 150 and 200 kg/ha) and S (0 and 30 kg/ha) fertilizers were adopted in a field experiment with rapeseed (Brassica napus) carried out in eastern Zhejiang, China, on a paddy soil with readily available S of 15.6 mg/kg (lower than the critical value, 16 mg/kg). As compared with the N rate of 50 kg/ha, application of N at 100-200 kg/ha increased rapeseed yield by 2.0-11.8% in treatments without S and by 2.4-12.7% in treatments with S applied at 30 kg/ha.
