A field experiment conducted in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, with three rice cultivars (ASD 16, ADT 36, and ASD 20) showed cultivar variation in response to different nitrogen regimes (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 kg/ha). The grain yield of ASD 20 was high under high N application levels. The yield potential of ASD 16 and ADT 36 was similar, but cultivar-nitrogen interactions were observed between the cultivars.
