Effect of different potassium levels and soil texture on growth and nutrient uptake of maize

A pot experiment was conducted to observe the effect of soil texture and potassium levels on root and shoot growth of maize plants. Three soils textures viz. sandy loam, sandy clay loam and clay loam were selected for the study. Pots were filled with air dried, ground, sieved and well mixed soil at 11 kg pot-1. Four potassium levels, i.e. 0, 50, 100 and 150 ppm were used. Hybrid (cv. Magic) seed of maize was sown during spring 2001.
