Effect of different soil tillage and fertilisation level on weed cover in maize

Herbologia 4(1): 157-162

The effects of different soil tillage methods and fertilizer application on the soil condition, maize yield and weediness were examined at Godollo, Hungary in 1999. The treatments comprised tillage methods such as ploughing (0.22-0.25 m), subsoiling (0.35-0.40 m) + discing (0.16-0.20 m), heavy-duty cultivator use (0.16-0.20) and direct drilling and application of 80:60:60 and 160:120:120 kg NPK/ha. The weeds were able to utilize low NPK rates better than the crop.
