A study was carried out at the Central Laboratory for Agriculture Climate, Agriculture Research Center in Egypt for two successive seasons (2001-02) to investigate the effect of different soilless culture systems on production and quality of cantaloupe (Cucumis melo) Regal grown under protected cultivation. Two methods of cultivation (horizontal and vertical bags) and two substrates (perlite and pumice) were tested and compared with the nutrient film technique (NFT).
