Effect of different sources of sulphur on yield and quality of tea (Camellia sinensis L. (O) Kuntez)

Effect of different sources of sulphur on yield and quality of tea (Camellia sinensis L. (O) Kuntez)

Journal of Interacademicia 4(3): 370-375

The effect of S application (20 kg/ha, applied using 9 sources) on the growth and yield of tea was investigated in NE India during 1994-96. Of the 9 sources investigated, gypsum recorded the highest yield, followed by ammonium sulfate. S application did not significantly influence shoot contents of N, P and K, but did influence that of S. S application improved tea quality as determined by theaflavine and thearubigin contents, brightness and organoleptic traits.
