Effect of dimethyl sulphoxide in the fresh weight of radish and beet plants

Effect of dimethyl sulphoxide in the fresh weight of radish and beet plants

Agrociencia Montecillo 37(3): 237-240

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was sprayed on shoots of beet (Beta vulgaris Fort Giant) and radish (Raphanus sativus Champion) grown in a greenhouse. The concentrations of DMSO applied ranged between 3.7x10-2M and 3.7x10-8M. Water was applied for the control group. The results indicated that DMSO significantly increased the fresh weight of both species. The tuber of both species increased significantly: up to 100% for radish and 38% for beet.
