Effect of direct gas combustion products on the health and performance of animals in heated farrowing houses

Effect of direct gas combustion products on the health and performance of animals in heated farrowing houses

Problemy intensyfikacji produkcji zwierzecej z uwzglednieniem ochrony srodowiska i przepisow UE VI Miedzynarodowa Konferencja Naukowa, Warszawa, Poland, 3-4 pazdziernika 2000: 241-246

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the gas heating of farrowing house on performance and health of animals. Two groups of sows (experimental D and control K) were managed in two identical farrowing houses in 13 standard farrowing crates. The houses were equipped with gravitational ventilation. In farrowing house D, gas heaters heated both the piglets and the house. House K was fitted with central heating and electric infrared heaters. Productivity of sows was comparable.
