Effect of divided wean for weak piglets on growth

In this study, suckling piglets were divided into two groups according to their liveweights at 14 days of age. Piglets with relatively heavier liveweights (H) were weaned immediately, whereas those with lighter liveweights (L) were allowed to suckle until their 20th day of age. Suckling behaviour and growth performance of the two groups were compared. With regards to suckling behaviour, the L group had a tendency to occupy posterior teats at 10 days of age.
