Effect of doses and methods of nitrogen application on growth, bulb yield and quality of 'Pusa Red' onion (Allium cepa)

In a field experiment conducted in Patharchatta, Uttar Pradesh, India, during the winter seasons of 1995-96, 1996-97, and 1997-98, the three nitrogen levels (50, 75, 100 kg/ha) and methods of application (basal, top dressing, and foliar spray) significantly affected the bulb yield of onion (Allium cepa) Pusa Red. The application of 75 kg N/ha gave better yield than 100 kg N/ha.
