Effect of drip irrigation in comparison with surface irrigation (basin) in coconut

Field experiments were conducted in a 15 years old established coconut (Cocos nucifera) garden in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, from 1996-97 to 1999-2000 wherein drip irrigation was compared with surface irrigation, in a randomised block design. Drip irrigation treatments comprised of daily irrigation at 100, 80, 60 and 40% PExKp. Surface irrigation was given through ring basins at 0.8 IW/CPE ratio.
