Effect of drought on accumulated losses and income forgone from beef enterprises: the need for a client focused approach

Effect of drought on accumulated losses and income forgone from beef enterprises: the need for a client focused approach

Proceedings of the Beef Products Program: Technology Our Future, Tocal College, Paterson, Australia, 13th May 2003: 136-138

Droughts always cost money. Major droughts eat into capital and disrupt regular production programmes. This warrants careful strategic planning for beef enterprises based on a 10-year period with thought given to various positioning strategies. These vary based on client needs in different areas and attitudes to risk. Some issues and options arising in 2002-03 involving three indicative cost scenarios are presented and discussed.
