Effect of drought on root and shoot growth, plant water status, canopy temperature and yield of rice

The performance of rice cultivars Kranti, IR-20, R-704-2-73-3-2, Mahamaya, and BG-380-2 under normal and drought conditions was studied in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Drought was imposed for 2 weeks (from 48 to 62 days after transplanting) by withholding irrigation. Drought for 2 weeks significantly reduced grain yield, grain test weight, nitrogen uptake, and shoot dry matter.
